A Letter From The Chapter President
Connor William Bostedt
Distinguished Alumni,
My name is Connor Bostedt, and what an honor it is to write
to all of you as the President of the
Zeta Psi Chapter of Theta Chi Fraternity at Western
Illinois University .
Since the re-installation back in October the Chapter has been
hard at work at continuing to build up the solid foundation that has been laid
down, and starting to create our new legacy on the campus of Western
Illinois University .
I am pleased to announce we are staying true to our maxim: Alma Mater First and
Theta Chi for Alma Mater as last semester we once again had one of the highest
GPAs among all Greek organizations on campus.
There is still so much that we need to accomplish. While
what is in front of us is no easy task, I am extremely confident in our Chapters
ability to be successful for decades to come. In the coming year, Zeta Psi will
be shifting its focus from Re-Installing and building the groundwork to
becoming the greatest Student Organization at Western
Illinois University .
This semester we have plans to host the first ever “Theta Chi Royale” which
will be a casino themed philanthropy event to benefit the USO. We are hoping
this turns into a staple event here at Western. Members from the Chapter will
be traveling to other Theta Chi Chapters to observe how they run certain events
and bring that knowledge back to the chapter. I am excited to announce that we
are in the early stages of planning the first annual alumni weekend which will
be held here at Western Illinois
University . As of right now, the tentative
dates are April 17th-19th. Details will be sent to you as they are finalized.
I think it goes without saying that without the support that
we have had from you wonderful Alumni, it would not have been possible for us
to be successful so quickly. We love our Alumni, and as the new President one
of my many goals is to get the Alumni even more involved. From Alumni stopping
by chapter meetings time to time, to hosting alumni weekends and events, I
believe that we have only scratched the surface of the potential we can achieve
with the help from the Alumni. I highly encourage all Alumni members to contact
me or the Chapter whenever they would like.
My phone number is 847-525-5260 and my email address is
CW-Bostedt@wiu.edu.
I look forward to hearing and working with all of you in the
coming year. In the words of National President Richard D. Elder “It’s a great time to be
a Theta Chi.” I believe that is especially true for the Zeta Psi Chapter.
Respectfully,
Connor William Bostedt
President
Theta Chi Fraternity Zeta Psi Chapter

A New ΘΧ House at WIU?
Thirty-four brothers were initiated at the Re-Installation Ceremony on October 25. At the November 6 board meeting, a house for the chapter was discussed. A lively session ensued. The board agreed that housing will not start with a large house like our last one on Wigwam Hollow. That is something to be worked up to. Here is our basic plan.
- Step 1: Our reestablished chapter needs time to prove itself and show some legs. That should take a year or so.
- Step 2: A small group of brothers could live together in a rental. For example, the chapter officers might rent and share housing.
- Step 3: A house might be rented, one able to hold a dozen or so brothers.
- Step 4: A permanent house could be purchased with help from our ΘΧ alumni organization.
ΘΧ Alumni Weekend at WIU
Board President Dennis O'Connell announced that an alumni weekend is being planned for late May or April of this year. He said the active chapter brothers are enthusiastic about the event. Why not visit WIU, see old friends, and meet your new brothers? Details to follow.
